CERAMIC SLAB VASE WORKSHOP- WITH MEL LUMB

NEW WORKSHOP DATE ANNOUNCED!

We are so pleased to be offering you this incredible Workshop once again, after it sold out very quickly in May.

Ceramic Artist, Mel Lumb works from her home studio in the stunning Sunshine Coast Hinterland where she creates her Signature style which is natural, earthy & tactile with a modern Zen-aesthetic. While there is a raw feel to each piece, there is also a sense of refined beauty and a practical functionality. Not simply for admiring visually, her creations are assimilated into everyday life.

One of Mel’s most popular bodies of work are her Shelfie Slab Vases. Beautiful and functional, these vases are made from slabs of stoneware clay. The result: a wide yet narrow form perfect for a shelf or sideboard display.

We’ll spend the day making and then exploring applications of decoration: (the MAGIC happens) playing with a variety of techniques, such as Fluting, Sgraffito, Resist and Slip decoration, using a selection of natural earth oxides. The result is all manner of texture and colour, creating a truly one-off piece of work.
